How is this different from AI background removal?
The AI cut-out finds a subject and works best on photos. This tool is deterministic: it clears the background by colour from the edges, so it never over-removes detailed foregrounds like foliage, grass or thin lines. Use it when the background is a solid colour or a smooth gradient.
Does it handle a gradient sky?
Yes. It follows a smooth gradient from the edge and stops at the crisp edge of the foreground, so a graded sky is removed while the subject stays fully intact.
It removed too much — what do I do?
Lower the tolerance. A lower value protects the foreground; a higher value clears more of the background. Adjust the slider and watch the preview.
Which edges should I pick?
Choose the edges the background touches. For a sky-above layer, keep just the top edge. You can add left/right/bottom if the background wraps around.
Are my images uploaded?
Never. Everything runs in your browser — your image never leaves your device.
