The short version

Your images are processed entirely on your device. They are never uploaded, stored, or seen by us.
No account, no sign-up. We don't ask for your name, email, or any personal details to use the tools.
We keep almost nothing. There's no image database because the images never reach a server in the first place.

How on-device processing works

Every tool on Ruah — compression, WebP/AVIF conversion, resizing, cropping, background removal and metadata stripping — runs as WebAssembly (and, where available, WebGPU) code inside your browser tab. When you drop in a file, it is read into your browser's memory, transformed locally, and offered back to you as a download. It is not transmitted over the network.

You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and process an image. You'll see no upload of your file.

A note on background removal

The background-removal tool needs an AI model to run. The first time you use it, your browser downloads that model file (roughly 40 MB) from a content-delivery network so it can run locally afterwards. Your image is still processed on your device and is never sent anywhere — only the model comes down to you, not your picture going up.

What we don't collect

The contents of your images or any data extracted from them.
Accounts, passwords, names, or email addresses.
Behavioural profiles, fingerprints, or cross-site tracking identifiers created by us.

What is processed to run the site

Ruah is a static website hosted on Cloudflare. Like any website, our hosting provider processes standard request information (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and to protect the site from abuse. We don't use that data to identify you, and we don't build profiles from it. See Cloudflare's own privacy documentation for how they handle infrastructure data.

Any usage measurement we add will be aggregate and cookieless — for example, a privacy-friendly page-view counter that reports totals without identifying individual visitors.

Cookies and local storage

Ruah itself sets no tracking cookies. Your theme preference (light or dark) is kept in your browser's local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to us. Advertising, described below, may set its own cookies.

Advertising

Ruah is free and supported by advertising. When ads are served, third-party vendors — including Google — may use cookies to show ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visits here and elsewhere.

You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info/choices.

Third-party services we rely on

Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery for the site's files.
img.ly CDN — delivers the AI model used by the background-removal tool to your device.
Google AdSense — serves the advertising that keeps Ruah free.

Fonts are self-hosted rather than loaded from a third-party font network, so using Ruah doesn't quietly announce your visit to another company.

Children

Ruah is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.

Your choices

Because your images stay on your device, there is no stored image data for us to expose, export, or delete. For questions about this policy — including anything related to advertising cookies — reach us any time at our contact page.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Ruah works in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this page and revise the date above. Continuing to use Ruah after a change means you accept the updated policy.
